Trudie McConnochie

Writer and Researcher, healthslips.com.au

Knowledge is power – that’s the guiding principle behind everything Trudie writes, and it’s a philosophy she brings to her work at healthslips.com.au. By breaking down complex information into easy-to-understand blogs and stories, she aims to empower Australians to make the best choices and an informed decision around private health insurance.

Trudie started her journalism career more than 20 years ago in the fast-paced world of magazines, where her ability to craft a clever headline and weave a captivating story under deadline pressure became renowned.

While working as a features editor at a weekly magazine, she discovered a passion for health writing, realising that helping readers improve their wellbeing is incredibly rewarding.

Trudie has been writing about health for more than 10 years, and her wellbeing stories have appeared in Woman’s Day, Mamamia and Women’s Health magazine. Over her extensive career Trudie has worked with some of Australia’s leading health experts and more recently health economists. She also works as a content marketer, helping brands tell stories that engage and motivate their customers and clients.

The key tenets of good health writing are accuracy, clarity and timeliness, and Trudie brings all of these to her writing at healthslips.com.au. Her aim is to demystify health insurance for every Australian, so they can get maximum value from their policy.

Trudie understands firsthand some of the complexity of private health insurance having moved to Australia from New Zealand and having to navigate a vastly different public healthcare system and health insurance structure.

Trudie holds a Bachelor of Communication Studies (journalism major) from the Auckland University of Technology.
