Find your Policy ID and start comparing

How to find your Policy ID

Step 1: Find your Private Health Information Statement (PHIS)

Each year, your private health insurer must give you a PHIS so you can review your policy and compare it with others.

If you cannot find your PHIS, you can get it from your insurer. Usually, you can download it from your insurer online.

Step 2: Locate your Policy ID

You can usually find your Policy ID at the bottom of your PHIS.

Occasionally, it may be somewhere else on your PHIS.

Your Policy ID is a code and looks like this:

FND/H12/NELR12

For example:

  • Bupa’s ‘Advantage Hospital $750 Excess – Gold’ policy is BUP/H32/NELR10.
  • Peoplecare’s ‘Silver Plus Hospital $750’ is LHM/H6/NCSY10.
  • AIA Health’s ‘Silver Hospital Classic 750 and Lifestyle Extras’ is MYO/J84A/NKKX2D.

Step 3: Compare your existing policy

Once you have your Policy ID, you can Compare Your Existing Policy with other policies currently available.

What if I can’t find my Policy ID?

You can compare your existing policy by answering some simple questions including:

  • who is your health insurer
  • what type of cover you currently have
  • who you want cover for
  • where do you live.

We will help you find and compare your existing policy.

What type of existing policy do you have?

Combined Hospital and Extras Cover

If you have Hospital and Extras Cover combined on the one policy, you will have one Policy ID which is located in the bottom left-hand corner of your Private Health Information Statement (PHIS).

You can easily compare your combined Hospital and Extras Cover policies on the healthslips.com.au Calculator by entering your Policy ID.

We will compare your existing combined policy to relevant combined Hospital and Extras policies available.

Separate Hospital Cover and Extras Cover

Depending on when you took out your health insurance, you may have separate health insurance policies for Hospital Cover and Extras Cover. Each policy will have a separate Private Health Insurance Statement and Policy ID.

If your separate policies are from the same insurer, you can compare them with combined Hospital and Extras policies. Simply enter your 2 existing Policy IDs into the healthslips.com.au Calculator and we will aggregate your 2 policies and your levels of cover to compare them with combined Hospital and Extras policies relevant to your needs.

Currently healthslips.com.au cannot compare separate policies from 2 different insurers.

Standalone Hospital Cover and Extras Cover

If you only have Hospital Cover or only have Extras Cover, these are referred to as standalone policies.

You can compare your standalone Hospital Cover or Extras Cover on our Calculator, using the Policy ID on the Private Health Information Statement (PHIS).

This will help you compare with other policies available on the market and to calculate your cheapest policy.
