What is Transport Health?
Transport Health is a private health insurer that operates as an open health fund.
Background
Transport Health was established in 1888 to help Melbourne tramway workers pay for medical and hospital treatment. It gradually expanded to provide health cover to all sectors of the Australian transport industry.
In 2014, Transport Health became an open fund, which meant anyone could become a member.
In 2016, Transport Health was taken over by RT Health, which later merged with HCF in 2021. In 2023, RT Health announced that Transport Health policies were being transitioned to RT Health.
Who can join Transport Health?
Since Transport Health has been taken over by RT Health, Transport Health policies are no longer available for purchase. If you already had a Transport Health policy, your policy is now managed by RT Health.
