What is TUH?

Queensland Teachers’ Union Health Fund (TUH) is a private health insurer that operates as a restricted health fund.

Background

TUH was established in 1972 by a group of teachers from the Queensland Teachers’ Union who wanted to help teachers and their families access better health insurance. TUH now also offers health insurance to people working in a broad range of industries.

Who can join TUH?

You can join TUH if you are a:

  • member of any Australian union 
  • family member of anyone who belongs to an Australian union, including:
    • parent
    • partner/spouse (current or former)
    • dependent child
    • adult child
    • grandchild
    • sibling.

Do TUH policies include Ambulance Cover?

For residents of ACT and NSW, TUH includes emergency Ambulance Cover with Hospital Cover. 

For residents of NT, SA, VIC and WA, TUH includes emergency Ambulance Cover with:

  • Hospital Cover
  • Combined Hospital and Extras Cover.

Residents of QLD and TAS are already covered by state-run ambulance services.
