A restricted insurer is open to members of a particular profession or workplace only.
You can join a restricted insurer only if you fall into the specific category of people covered by that insurer.
However, family members are usually eligible to join these restricted insurers.
As at February 2025, there were 13 restricted insurers in Australia.

8. | Police Health | Current or former Australian police officers and their families. |
9. | Reserve Bank Health Society | Current or former employees of the Reserve Bank of Australia or Note Printing Australia and their families. |
10. | Teachers Health | Teachers and administrative workers working in primary, secondary or tertiary education and their families. |
11. | TUH | Members of any Australian union and their families. |
12. | UniHealth | Academic and administrative workers at tertiary education institutions and their families. |
13. | Union Health | Current or former employees of recognised Australian trade unions and their families. |
